Program Summary
• Donating just before closing a sale of the business that is in the works while addressing donor concerns about control during the sale process
• What sophisticated charities should do to receive a such a gift, and how charities without experience receiving such a gift can receive such a gift with only minimal work and zero risk
• What kinds of charitable vehicles are appropriate for gifts in what kinds of business interest

Attendees will learn tax and non tax issues when charities receive and donors donate business interests. They will learn appropriate receptacles for sophisticated charities to form and how other charities may be able to run the gift through a donor-advised fund with virtually no transaction costs to the charity. Attendees will learn the commonly used way to avoid the assignment-of-income trap for business interests, as well as which types of structures donors might use to avoid tax traps while controlling the sale.
